Mice might bite humans for a variety of reasons. First, self-defence is a common cause; if a mouse feels threatened or cornered, it may resort to biting as a means of protecting itself, particularly if someone is trying to catch or handle it. Another reason for biting is curiosity. Mice are inherently inquisitive creatures and they might bite as a way to explore or investigate their surroundings, using their mouth to sense taste and touch. Lastly, mistaken identity can lead to bites – a mouse may inadvertently bite a human if it confuses a part of the human body, such as a finger, with food. Understanding these behaviours is crucial in taking the necessary precautions to avoid being bitten.
